English Plus Leadership
‘If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader’
Xplore’s English Plus Leadership course offers 13 to 17 year-old students a unique cross-cultural opportunity to build and develop skills in key areas of leadership. During this one week course, our specially trained and experienced camp instructors will guide students through a series of sessions, designed to test and develop effective team work, problem solving, communication and presentation skills. The course will be made up of 3-hour daily interactive workshops, in which we cover all aspects of developing key skills in leadership – from idea sharing, understanding others and their behaviour, public speaking and entrepreneurism.
In addition to these workshops, Leadership students are encouraged to participate in evening sessions, shadowing camp staff, culminating in challenging the students to design an evening of their own to inspire and engage their younger peers.
By the end of the two weeks our aim is for students to feel confident in leading and inspiring others!
When I came here the first time I was by myself, but I made a lot of new friends and now there are some girls that are my best friends and we normally come together.

Accommodation at Camp Framlingham is set across 7 boarding houses, which creates a large campus-style atmosphere. Dorms are furnished to a comfortable standard with 1 to 6 bed per room. We always have separate quarters for boys and girls and where possible place campers of a similar age in a room together. If you have any special requirements or would like to request to share with a friend, we will try to accommodate you, just let us know in advance.
Meal times at Camp Framlingham offer a range of freshly cooked nutritious food, all served within the grand dining hall, located in the heart of the main building. As well as traditional English cuisine, the kitchen also offers a range of international cuisine throughout the week with both hot and cold options. The dining hall is always open for campers to collect water and is accessible from the main social area of the campus, which is also in the main building. Dietary requirements can be met when we are aware in advance.
The course will be made up of 3-hour daily interactive workshops, in which we cover all aspects of developing key skills in leadership – from idea sharing, understanding others and their behaviour, public speaking and entrepreneurism. In addition to these workshops, we also ask our Leadership students to actively participate in evening sessions, shadowing our camp staff, culminating in challenging the students to design and evening of their own to inspire and engage their younger peers on-site. By the end of the week, our students should feel confident in leading and inspiring others.
After completing placement test, our native-speaking English teachers will place teenagers in a class suitable to their ability level. At Framlingham, we offer Elementary (A2), Intermediate (B1), Advanced (B2), Proficiency (C1) and Masters (C2) courses. For our teenage learners, we tailor our lessons and teaching approach to include interactive group and individual projects and presentations as well as focus on cultural, social and academic topics. Through encouraging participation within our classes, it allows each learner to develop their English sometimes without even noticing. At Framlingham, our teachers will offer support with conversation, grammar, English Literature, debates and presentations and even colloquial terms and business grammar for those fluent speakers. At the end of the 2-week course, learners will complete an examination for the level they have been learning at. We will then receive a certificate from Anglia Examinations, which confirms your English level in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference. Classroom learning time per week is 20 hours and our class sizes are same with approximately 16 students per teacher.
For students achieving a pass grade or higher for B1, B2, C1 and C2, they will receive an Ofqual approved certificate through Anglia Examinations partnership with AIM Awards.
During the 2-week programme, our staff will take all our campers on 3 organised day trip excursions. These fully supervised trips are the perfect way to spend the day off-campus with new friends – from day trips to big cities such as London and Cambridge or social trips to Norwich or Ipswich for shopping or bowling. (3 excursions during 2-week programme – Wednesday, Saturday, Wednesday)
Care and Supervision
Our Camp Leaders are responsible for the pastoral care of all those in our care and ensure that everyone is sleeping well, eating well, joining in, making friends and having a great time. During free time, our teenagers are able to explore the campus with friends, whilst being supervised by their house parents. Being located in a town, we offer campers the ability to go off-site as an alternative to an activity session; however a member of Xplore staff will always accompany them.
Our camps are available to children from all over the world. Integration and immersion is central to how we operate as an organisation, and by encouraging lots of social interaction between different cultures and creating a diverse international community at camp, it can really develop every child’s self-confidence in communicating with others.
