“Lego” derived from the Danish phrase “leg godt”, meaning “play well” has children and adults worldwide using their imagination and creativity to construct an infinite number of worlds, characters and objects.
Our LEGO Robotics Camp is perfect for students who love being creative, building with LEGO and want to experiment with LEGO Mindstorms programming alongside developing English language skills.
No prior experience of LEGO building or robotics is required but we do recommend for students to have a basic understanding of using a computer, for example using a mouse and a keyboard.
LEGO Robotics is a one-week course*; which takes place in the first week at camp alongside either structured EFL lessons or multi-activity programme. During the second week, students switch to full multi-activity programme with or without EFL as desired
During the 1-week course, students will have 4×3-hour sessions either in the morning or the afternoon, learning how to build and programme a basic robot to complete tasks set by our instructors, such as self-steering or following colours.
Each session will involve lots of construction and communication, sharing ideas and thoughts with other students and our course leader.
Students will learn basic linear programming, developing their ICT skills at the same time as developing English language communication skills such as speaking, listening and reading.
Students do not need to bring any equipment with them, all materials will be provided.
At the end of the week, there will be a competition to test the LEGO robots skills and all students will receive a certificate to show their completion of programme.
