English is one of the most popular languages for young people to learn and improve. When looking at booking a summer language camp, it is important to feel assured that you (and your parents) will see an improvement in your English skills by the time you return home – the benefit of an Xplore camp is that you will PLUS you will also have an amazing memory of your summer abroad and have made new friends for life.
We aim for you to improve your English proficiency and skills through a combination of structured English language lessons and through our exciting, challenging activity provision or special interest courses.
Would you go to a pool to practice your swimming? Of course, because no matter how much you learn on the land, it is not the same as actually doing it! It is the same with English, or any language! You can learn words and grammar at home or in school, but it is not the same as actually putting into practice, with real English speakers.
BUT, don’t worry, we don’t leave you to jump off at the deep end!
All our English Summer Camps come with English language lessons built in – although these are not ordinary lessons! These lessons simply help to underpin the basics of learning or developing English, and we cater for all skill levels from beginner to advanced!
We of course do not spend all of our time in a classroom, the most impactful way to develop language skills is to be using them. So with 20+ nationalities attending our camps, the common language is English and our leaders are native English-speaking. Add in challenging, sociable, fun and daring activities, we build your self-confidence, your self-awareness and your independence, that most of the time, you won’t even realise your English has improved too!
We have the same excellent standard of language learning across all of our camps, therefore we can guarantee that no matter which camp you choose, you can be assured of our high standards.
Across all our destinations, our English teachers are vibrant, engaging and experienced.
We have gone to great lengths to ensure that as well as their own TEFL qualification, all of our teachers have received the same training in our TEFL methods, our philosophy and our ethos.
Every Xplore teacher is supported by an Academic Manager and our Diploma qualified Director of Studies.
Our teaching method is one of natural acquisition, sure to support every student, easing you into a natural and normal way of communicating in English.
Xplore’s EFL courses are engaging, interactive and designed for all levels using the Reallyenglish framework, which is internationally recognised. Students will spend 15-hours per week in the classroom enhancing their language skills with relevant and practical lessons, preparing them for their Reallyenglish examination at the end of their stay.
Ok, no problem!
We offer our camps without lessons, but we really only recommend this to fluent, confident speakers or if you already sit at a C2 level on the CEFR. If you are not at this level, we really do recommend keeping your lessons as part of your programme as they offer additional support to developing your language skills and you never know, you might just learn something new!
If you are absolutely sure you do not want to include English lessons, then your lessons will be replaced by activities.
Learning through being active is a proven method to gain key skills and confidence – by using and practicing English, of course your skills will grow. What is key, is we provide a relaxed, fun, non-judgemental and unpressured environment which in turn develops your resilience, confidence and self-belief when using English.
“Being outside is a brilliant way to get some fresh air, have lots of laughs and exercise the brain.”
Throughout our camps, we encourage only English to be used to communicate with others. During our activities we encourage you to use your language skills to work together as a team and listen to the instructors who will be communicating in English.
Our Activity provision is varied, and each of our camps offer not only our core activities but also a range of specific activities depending on the facilities it has. Additionally, we programme team sports and games, and in the evening, activities include anything from discos to navigation tasks, movie nights to talent shows.
Our Special Interest camps allow you to participate in a course dedicated to developing a sport or skill alongside your English language lessons.
All the course content is delivered in English, so by combining lessons with your special interest can really help support your learning and development no matter the subject or focus.
